Fermat's Library: Paper of the week

This week's paper is "Neutron Production and Absorption in Uranium" by Szilard, Anderson and Fermi published in 1939.

This seemingly short and simple paper had a tremendous influence in the fate of the world. It lead to the now famous Einstein-Szilard Letter which was sent to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in October of 1939. This letter resulted in the creation of the Manhattan Project that built the atomic bomb.
